To change or reverse the direction of rotation of a single phase motor is by changing the position of the phase and neutral cables only on one coils, either the main coils or on the auxiliary coils.

The direction of rotation of a 1 phase electric motor will not change if the position of the cable in the power source is changed, because if the phase and neutral position is changed on the power cable the same as changing the position of pole or auxiliary and main coils cable at the same time, while changing the direction of rotation, simply changing the phase and neutral pole position of one of the coils (main or auxiliary coils).
